Bible vs Political Parties

This was done quickly, with limited research. I am not making a stance (though it wouldn’t be hard to figure out where I do stand) but simply laying out what I understand with the QUICKEST information possible. Every issue is deeper than I’ve even begun to mention below and every party has SO many people who align with them but may disagree. These are general, broad statements and assumptions. Not absolute truths for every single republican and democrat. (Anything in quotes under a party column was taken straight from the party’s website.)

Every single stance in the Bible column could be argued. Every single verse could be understood and interpreted differently. In fact, some of them are literally taken straight out of context. But I wanted to, as quickly as possible, try to explain why I put the Bible’s stance on that specific issue. Again, you may disagree. That’s okay. I have done more research than what you see below, but every single issue could be an entire blog post about what the Bible says or doesn’t say. MANY of the issues are not outrightly discussed in the Bible and must be assumed based on what we know of Jesus/the heart of God/what we are told.

We Disagree?

picsPhilippians 4:13- “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

You most likely had one of two reactions after reading that verse. Either you thought, “Man, I love that verse” or you rolled your eyes and almost stopped reading this blog post.

Everyone’s faith is different. Even within a denomination. Even within a church. Even within a family.

Hello, reader. My name is Madison. I’m a junior in college. I’m a non-denominational Christian. My dad is a pastor. And we probably disagree on so much.

And that’s okay. Continue reading

Dear Christians,

sisterYou’re supposed to be “the light” not “the Facebook political advocate for things that will invalidate groups of people and turn them away from the gospel”. Be gracious, generous, loving and accepting.

Stop fighting among yourselves. No you are not doing Christianity “right” because you’re Baptist or Church of Christ or protestant or catholic or non-denom. You are just doing it one way. Everyone works differently. Everyone praises differently. While one person may thrive in having freedom to move around and raise hands and dance, another may feel overwhelmed and turned away. Contrarily, while one my feel stifled by structure, another may feel safe and at home. Help your fellow sisters and brothers find where they fit and stop yelling that your way is the only way and the “correct” way. It’s just ONE way. We are supposed to be one whole family, not a bunch of small ones that are constantly fighting. Love each other and build each other up. Continue reading
